Sharing the official statement from LA County:
We want to thank all the residents who shared their voices at the East LA Community Forums. While we value the insights shared by community members, it has been brought to our attention by some residents who attended that they do not feel their voices are being heard. We take these concerns seriously and the County remains committed to creating spaces for all to share their perspectives and be heard.
Out of an abundance of caution, we are postponing the forums scheduled on Wednesday, March 4 at East Los Angeles Service Center and Saturday, March 7 at Saybrook Park. We will continue the conversation with the virtual forum scheduled for Thursday, March 5 and we welcome comments shared online as well. We will share the rescheduled dates for the in-person forums as soon as possible. Confirming and communicating these new dates is an immediate priority, and we are working quickly to ensure the discussions can take place in the welcoming, safe environment the community deserves.
East LA residents are at the center of this important process, and we are committed to getting this right.
What to expect when you Attend a forum
The East LA Community Forums are a place where everyone’s voice can be heard. These forums will focus on small-group conversations to make sure everyone gets a chance to speak and share their insights. Each forum will run about an hour and a half.
We’ve invested in these forums as places of community connection with art displays, resource information, and even a Kids Zone for children ages 5-12.
All are welcome. Bring your ideas and your care and passion for East LA!
